So, Is It Done? Navigating the Revision Process, hosted by Janet Burroway

Nearly every writer will tell you that your first draft should be written fast, out of your unconscious or your dream space, with no input from your internal critic, but letting it flow. Some writers describe the first draft as "making clay"—just getting the mud on the page so you have something to work with, something to shape.

But what then? But what happens when you wake from your fictional dream and face the need to shape your story so that someone else, your reader, can share you vision? Why do so many writers insist that re-vision is not only necessary, but the core of the writing process?
